Thorp LRC is the main 6th Form study centre used for independent study.  The 6th Form study room is used for silent study sessions with a member of staff.

6th Form Library

We have a 6th Form shelving area which holds an extensive collection of A Level text books on most subjects. There are 16 networked computers and 15 netbooks for use when studying.

When 6th Form use the study platform, they must be working quietly or will be asked to move elsewhere.

For students in silent study lessons a register will be taken by the study teacher.

It is widely known that Reading for Pleasure is vital to improving attainment in all subjects. It is something that is widely documented to decline in students from KS4 onwards. This reading list has been put together with outstanding texts for you to borrow and enjoy. Click on the button above and choose a book to try from the following genres:

Modern and contemporary

Pleasure Reading

This book was excellent. I absolutely loved it!! I thought Charlie was a fantastic character. Very easy to love and feel lots of empathy for. Patrick and Sam were perfect and the actors who played them in the movie did so brilliantly after reading their story. From reading Catcher in the Rye and being fairly disppointed from half-way through I have to say that the feel of this book is what Catcher should have been. Holden VS Charlie- no contest really. I will certainly read ANYTHING by this author in future as I enjoyed it from first page to last.
